I would avoid using Jay as he doesn’t guarantee his work. He broke my flue, took his payment and hasn’t returned any calls, texts or emails. I was an existing customer but would recommend if you want to avoid headaches and the costs to fix what he breaks, do yourself the favor of finding someone else.
Jay is the most responsive and professional chimney person I have found. I had a chimney fire and he put a new liner in and I have not had any issues since. I have a wood burning stove and even though it is cast iron, it was no problem for Cornerstone Chimney. Jay always returns phone calls, covers the area necessary and cleans up with ease. I would recommend Cornerstone for anyone needing chimney services. Prices are reasonable and if there might be an issue, Jay will tell you up front and hides nothing. Best there is around. Would not recommend anyone else.
Cornerstone chimney Jay Costello Been using this service for 8 years, since 2013... woodstove Around the middle of April 2021 the chimney wasn't getting good draft (always hard to start). Probably like this for a while. Anyway the house filled with smoke on 3 separate occasions. Smoke coming from the pipe going into the brick wall. Tried calling Jay, he was out of town. Got a hold of another service (The Chimney Pros) to come out and inspect the chimney. Evaluation was that it had not been cleaned for 5 to 7 years. On a safety scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst) it was a 9. Basic cleaning $125, Deep cleaning & creosol removal $499, chemical treatment $399, Inspection $65.... Subtotal $898, Total w/tax $996 Cornerstone Chimney (Jay) refused to reimburse. Note: my wife has been coughing since this incident. Diagnosed with asthma and under doctor's care. Have been advised to not use the woodstove due to her health. It is 10 years old, purchased on Sept 3, 2011, and installed w/permit inspection. Note: whenever Jay cleaned the chimney he used a vacuum on the opening from the woodstove to the chimney inside the house. He never went up on the roof to use a brush from above. I probably burn anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 cords a season (Nov to May), all hardwood.
Jay was very responsive and did a great job fixing a problematic damper. He offered good information on when to set up regular sweepings. Even though Jay had an extremely busy schedule this time of year he made time for the job while in my neighborhood. He was 100% professional and pleasant to deal with. Would definitely hire again.
