Any good reviews must have gotten Peter on one of his good days. Two plus decades ago, he did a wonderful chimney rebuild on a building I own in Bay Creek. I had a major building facade restoration a couple of years ago and wanted him to do the work. First, It took me forever to track him down and get a response. He finally gave me a quote that was higher than others, but I had trusted him from the previous job. Mistake. He was supposed to start it in the summer, but was a no show for months until the fall. Kept saying he was coming and then didn't. Was supposed to repoint the building and it was getting cold. Said he would tent and heat the area. Didn't. Finally, paid him off to get rid of him. By spring all his repointing had flaked out. Turns out that he hadn't actually cleaned out the joints between the bricks, but just put a thin coating over the joints to match the color. I had to bring in a competent mason who removed all his faulty work and redid it. Be cautious.

I have used other chimney sweep companies and was not satisfied with their service so I tried Badger Chimney. Though I live outside his normal service area he agreed to come south to Beloit area. As others state, he was meticulous and immediately laid out protection for floor/carpet and explained what he was going to do. He spent 2 & 1/2 hours cleaning our wood fireplaces and chimneys. Of note he used a remote camera to inspect the flue up to the cap, removed parts of fireplace cover (no one had done previously) to vacuum around blower and dead space, and took time to explain what might be cause of smoke occasionally coming into house. Lastly he inspected chimney caps by using a ladder to check from top. I think his fee of 375 was reasonable for the time and work. I will recommend Peter to others seeking a qualified sweep.
