I initially hired Ken to check my direct vent fireplace insert, because I could feel air blowing around the edges all the time and smell a lot of outdoor odors like when the grass was cut - even though the insert is sealed and the intake and exhaust only run through the chimney. I also had him examine the blowing air at the top of my over the range microwave, inside my clothes dryer at the lint trap vent, and under my kitchen cabinets. Ken ran some simple tests to show me with a flame and piece of paper which way my air was being pulled. He then explained to me how negative air pressure worked and that this was what I was experiencing inside my condo. He discovered after a very thorough examination that the exhaust system of my building was constantly pulling my environmental climate out of my unit and into building’s exhaust vents, i.e. the kitchen range exhaust, the dryer exhaust, the 2 bathroom exhaust fans. So no matter how much I air conditioned or heated my condo, it was all being sucked out. The negative air pressure was so strong that it was pulling outdoor air down the chimney 24/7. It completely explained why my electric furnace bill for a 1850 sq ft condo was running me close to $700 per month and the summer a/c was close to $400 per month. All of my extremely expensive environmental climate was being sucked out of my condo leaving me freezing in the winters and roasting with high humidity in the summers. With Ken’s help I was able to make changes that have this past year cut my electricity costs in half. I can actually maintain a comfortable temperature in my home for the first time ever, no matter how hot or cold the outdoor temperatures are. I am writing this review now because I just went through 1 summer and now completed 1 winter successfully and have saved hundreds of dollars! This is all thanks to Ken. He is a complete expert with many years of experience and many certifications that he has earned. I really cannot say enough about his expertise and knowledge. He even examined the exhaust system that my condo is connected to and helped me make a presentation to some of my buildings’ board members to try to address the problem. This is all way above and beyond what I could ever have expected. Thank you, Ken!! Ken has a genuine and proven desire to help his clients. Many of my neighbors have also had good experiences when hiring Ken and we rely on him to reliably find the problems and recommend best courses of action and charge a fair price. My previous contractor simply told me I needed new parts, charged me a lot of money and left me with my original problems. I can never thank or heap enough praise on Ken. I can only thank heaven that I found exactly the right person to hire and help me stop throwing away hard earned money and now live comfortably in my home. Many, many thanks to you, Ken!
