Quality Chimney & Duct Cleaning

The contractor came out to the house on the date and time of initial appointment. Work van was full of clutter and trash (covered entire dash, etc.) which does not give a good first impression. Gentleman was courteous and polite during the inspection/cleaning. After looking at my wood stove, he took some pictures of the stampings and stickers on the piping, made a couple phone calls and said he needed to do a little bit of research, whereby he went back to his van for about 20 minutes or so. He then told me that he didn't think this was a type A chimney and therefore would not be rated for wood burning (he in fact wrote this on his ticket where he charged me $85.00 (with military discount). He told me my entire chimney system was not up to code and would need to be replaced. I asked him if his company did this type of work to which he said yes. I asked him to provide me a quote and he said he would need some time, but would get back to me with one. I never heard back. After doing about 1 hour of research online, I found information that lead me to believe my chimney was in fact type A chimney and rated for wood burning. I found contact information for the manufacturer and after sending an email received confirmation from one of their engineers that my chimney was indeed type A and rated for wood burning. After having evidence in hand, I contacted another chimney cleaning company, Sootmaster Chimney Sweeps, who came out to clean my chimney. In all fairness to Quality Chimney & Duct Cleaning, they had much the same reaction, but this time I presented the email from the manufacturer's engineer. Sootmaster did a much more thorough inspection of my chimney and their van was clean. He took pictures and said they would have to do some additional research. After a couple weeks, they told me their research confirmed my chimney meets code and they will be coming out in a couple weeks to clean my chimney.

No one ever called me back. Found someone else

Very friendly and cleaned my dryer duct. Would definitely call again if any issues come up
